“Ashley, you’re not waiting for life to happen to you, you’re going out there and creating it.”
I never want to forget what I felt when I heard these words. It’s hands down the best compliment I’ve ever been given. These words were spoken to me a couple of weeks ago by one of the most amazing humans I’ve had the opportunity to know in this life. She’s one of my clients, and although she tells me that I’m helping her, she probably doesn’t know the influence she’s also had on me.
You know those people in your life who just fill you up? The people who make you feel like you matter just by being around them? That’s who she is. But honestly the most amazing thing about her is that somehow, without effort, she’s able to help you realize the potential you already have within yourself.
As humans, and especially as women, it’s so easy to avoid getting to know our truest self. We shy away from doing the work it takes to create harmony within ourselves because we’re afraid of what we might find. It’s hard to confront our fears. It’s hard to acknowledge the childhood trauma that we didn’t ask for. It’s hard to confront the lies we’ve been telling ourselves for our entire life. It’s hard to sit with our emotions, feel them, and then still be willing to take the next step. It’s terrifying. BUT I promise you the work is worth it.
When you heal trauma, you find yourself. And you’re enough. You’re beautiful. You already have everything you need within you. By healing trauma, you learn how to take off the mask and be nothing but authentically you.
When you have people in your life like her, they help give you the strength to want to do the work. There is no other love as important as self-love. And truly loving yourself is something only you can give yourself. But when you have people in your corner who you know are rooting for you, it makes it so much easier. I’m forever grateful for her. And I will be in anyone’s corner who needs me.
